Is winning another 3 peat even an option?May 4, 2011 12:31 am
The Lakers are by far one of the most historic franchises in the entire NBA. The only other team to hold more Championships is the Celtics. With that said, is anything but another Championship acceptable? With the way the Lakers have positioned themselves during the 2000's, do we really expect anything else but success. Since the days of Showtime during the 90's, La has longed for a return to glory. Then something changed, LA somehow became the Yankees of Basketball. There were numerous people brought in - Shaq, Rodman, Malone, etc and most importantly - Phil! The Lakers spent time and money putting together a team, not just a bunch of high profile players - like the Yankees. La made it a point to have a secondary just as good as its first string. The Lakers had built one of the best benches in the world and made sure that they continued to do so. If you look at all of the injuries that the Lakers have had to deal with, there is always someone to step up and step in and perform. La is a huge market and since the Lakers have basically become the staple of the NBA - no pun intended. So again, I pose the question - Is winning another 3 peat even an option? While the Lakes have had a few close games against marginal teams (i.e.: T-Wolves), they managed to pull them all out so far! They stop in Denver next, with Phoenix this Sunday and the lakes don't usually play well on Sundays! Then off for an easy road trip against Mil, Det, and Min ... again. Maybe the T-wolves will pick up where they left off? Golden State gets a chance, and Chi town comes to LA but the real test will be the Jazz in Utah ... that place is a house of Horrors! The Lakes could roll right through November the way their going! When and against who will it happen? Category: NBA |
